Laura Linney is an American actor who has become famous for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Born to a renowned playwright's father, and raised by a single mother, who earned her living by working as a nurse. She began to take an interest in theater while having summers spent with her father, eventually studying acting, first at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. After two years of her graduation she started the beginning of her Broadway career. The following year, she began her career she was on television. Innumerable appearances in movies, television shows and stage productions since then. Her nominations include three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her time on the stage. Although she has received numerous awards, she still loves the theatre, and has appeared on both screen and stage.
