Laura Linney's performance of weak but strong characters has earned her the title of one of the top American actors. When she was a child, spending summers at her father's house, she developed an interest in theater. While in Brown University for a while before transferring to Juilliard School to study acting. Within a mere two years after graduation she began her Broadway-based career. The following year she made her debut in film and television. Since then she has been involved in numerous films, television plays and stage productions. She has won many awards during her professional career. These include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Although she received many awards throughout her career, theatre was always her primary love.
